SOCIAL IMPACT MINDSET

Social Impact Mindset

A positive change that addresses a pressing social challenge.

Questions one should ask to apply this mindset:

• Do I have a full understanding of what it means to consider the  ”Social Impact” in this situation?

•Have I shared factual knowledge with others about the effects of the “Social Impact” in this situation?

• How can I be more socially responsible in life?

• What are the activities and actions I may partake in, to help others understand the importance of the Social Impact Mindset?

Evidence:

A pressing social challenge in our society today is that many people are heartbroken, depressed and simply tired of the many obstacles life present. Our society has forced higher education, an awesome career and working toward obtaining the perfect financial portfolio with no focus on simply being ”happy.”

I feel it is my religious and social responsibility, as a Christian, to be the light of the world and salt of the earth. I believe it is my duty to encourage, inspire and to motivate others to develop a relationship with Christ and seek after that which gives them true satisfaction in life.

I can assist others in achieving ”happiness” by being present and accountable for sharing my beliefs according to what the Bible says. The hope is for others to explore a life in Christ and all the goodness a relationship with Him may benefit them. A relationship with Christ can transform and renew an individual's mindset. The result of a renewed mind allows others to be more socially responsible in all facets of their life as well. The ultimate goal is to learn to live a genuinely happy life in spite of foreseen and unforeseen challenges in our lives.

I can promote the Social Impact Mindset, in my life, by displaying Biblical truth in my daily work, to encourage others to invoke characteristics of this mindset into their personal life. I can continue to be a good steward of God's people and their hearts. My actions will be positive. I will continuously set goals to intentionally be effective in making a social impact for the kingdom of God amidst God's people. I can live the very “message” of the goodness of the Lord in my life as a testament to others. I may continue to seek opportunities to promote the Social Impact Mindset of having a relationship with Christ by consistently participating in activities, hosting videos, talks, meetings, discussions and hold broadcasted forums about the Word of God.

If I could go back and do it again, I would ask myself these questions:

-What is holding you back from stepping out on faith and doing the work of the Lord?

-Why don't you realize you were set apart to do the work of the Lord?

- Don’t you understand to be bold is normal and being typical is abnormal?

INCLUSIVE MINDSET

The Inclusive Mindset

Having an open thought process, to all aspects of life, that opens doors to opportunities for meaningful engagement, contribution, and belonging.

Questions one should ask to apply this mindset:

• Do I take into account others’ perspective?

•  Am I keeping an open thought process in this situation?

• Have I explored various avenues to help others around me operate within the “Inclusive Mindset”?

• Do I apply and open thought process to all aspects of my life?

• Have I kept an open thought process in combination with knowledge gained from others mindsets?

Evidence:

As I work toward gaining more knowledge about ministering the Word of God, I encounter many people who strongly oppose the Word of God. Their opposition to the Word of God stems from various personal life experience, the imposition of a particular religion by the patriarchal or matriarchal positioning, or in some cases, the person's strong opinion based on the facts they feel they are aware of.

As any communication about religion with others commence with those who strongly oppose the Word of God, I have to take into account the past and present mindset of each person. With consideration to the context of the paper, I will limit examples due to the grave extent of some of my encounters. Some unbelievers have experienced incredible hardship. Each person, time after time says, “If there is a God, why did He let this happen to me? Why didn’t he stop it? Why didn’t and why hasn’t my life been any better now than it was then?”

As I minister, the key in each scenario is to be sure to genuinely acknowledge, recognize and to deliver the understanding of the events that happened in their life. This allows the person and me to determine what has possibly shaped the person's views. Next, it is necessary to compare and contrast, for better or worse, right or wrong, what a person has experienced, according to the Word of God. Then, it is critical to show a person how there is love from God to cover all the person has experienced. And last, showing a person all the promises of God, most importantly leading them to the greatest gift, salvation. They may also be shown how they may live a life on earth, free of what they experienced holding them bound. I must gain an understanding of a person's personal life. I manage to make every attempt, at a minimum, to begin to break down a person's strong opposition or total disbelief of the word of God.

In ministry, lives saved for the Lord don’t happen overnight as Rome was not built in a day. The process is as such, “One plants, one water, and God gets the increase.” So each person who imparts the Word of God to another Brother or Sister could be in any part of the process. The most important aspect of being apart of this process is to do your part. The success, in whole, is contributed to many factors, most importantly, having an open mind.

The accounts I listed in the later paragraphs are less than a nominal share of examples of the encounters I have with unbelievers or struggling believers in Christ. I help equip others and myself, for life with knowledge acquired from the Bible as well as from others.  I provide a disservice to those who I minister to if I do not look at each experience “from the lens” and vantage point of others. Each of our experiences has an equal amount of importance. No one's past experiences and life is any less important as the others. I must continue to consistently make adjustments according to knowledge gained from others mindsets. There is a quote that says “If you find someone that says they know everything, they stopped living a long time ago.” To live is to learn. You are not living if you are not learning something new. The apex of “Living your best life” commence when you have acquired knowledge on how to “Live your best life.” When I learn something from someone else, the experience is priceless.

If I could go back and do it again, I would ask myself these questions

- Did I assure those who I minister to understood my open mindset?

-Did I overlook anyone's point of views, perspectives, and beliefs?

-Do I keep in mind that my ways and thoughts are not the only way?

ETHICAL MINDSET

Ethical Mindset

Making the right and just decisions with consideration to reducing harm to yourself and others.

Questions one should ask to apply this mindset:

• Am I making decisions which do not harm others?

• Am I being Honest?

•What makes others be dishonest?

Evidence:

I will never forget a Manager whom I had named Mrs. Wanda at one of my jobs after graduating from High School. Mrs. Wanda would always require each employee to take her consistently disrespectful orders on the job. Many employees would work hard to please Mrs. Wanda but this task seems insurmountably difficult as she was never pleased. Some of the best workers would quit the job due to her Management abilities. I faced much ridicule myself from Mrs. Wanda. I would always see her require others to follow order and company processes yet she, herself did not follow the store policies. I worked in the cash office and Mrs. Wanda would always break policy and not allow me to stand with her as she did a final count on the money which she and I were equally responsible for. I would count the money and a large amount was always missing. I would decline to provide my signature and would not continue another task until all the funds were accounted for, sealed in the money bags and placed in the safe. A year after I resigned a coworker called me to tell me that a brigade of police officers invaded our store and immediately placed Mrs. Wanda in handcuffs and carried her off to jail.

No matter what went on or how Mrs.Wanda treated us, although I could not prove that something was wrong, I knew Mrs. Wanda had deceptive attributes. In spite of what I observed and the many complaints I received about Mrs. Wanda, I continued to encourage the employees to simply do their part, obey the policies, rules, and procedures and that they would be ok.

Although, I had resigned from my position over a year prior to Mrs.Wanda a getting caught, to this day I still remain in contact with the very employee I continued to encourage to remain humble, to not mismanage their cashier responsibility, handle all merchandise as if it was theirs and to follow all the policies and procedures set in place in spite of what Mrs. Wanda's actions were toward the employees. As it turns out she was the one who was doing wrong all along.

I was successful in devolving this mindset, in this particular work setting, because I loved my job and I was always raised to simply do what’s right, fair and just to other people and other people’s properties. I was able to utilize an ethical mindset and approach to the employees who wanted to report Mrs. Rhonda and others who wanted to give up and not obey the policies, procedures, and rules.

I encouraged other employees to do the right thing and make the right decisions in spite of what Mrs. Wanda's s actions were.

I made sure that the employees were informed of their rights to report Mrs. Wanda. But I also made sure the employees were well aware of the consequences and retaliation from the employer which we had seen in others experience if they chose to move forward and report her. What Mrs. Wanda did was exposed and neither one of the employees faced retaliation as they feared for Mrs. Wanda’s wrongdoings.

If I could go back and do it again, I would ask myself these questions:

-What can you do to assure you don’t act in such a naive manner?

-Why did you ignore the “red flags?”

-Why didn’t you get higher Management involved or ask for the initiation of an investigation due to indications of dishonest actions?

-Why didn’t you encourage other employees to report Management?

-Was not getting Mrs.Wand in trouble worth the loss of so many great employees who were unable to withstand her reticule?
